American Airlines Allows Customers To Pre-Order Meals

In a fun little bit of airline industry news that I first reported on back in April, American Airlines now lets AAdvantage members pre-order meals before they get on the plane. Flyers can choose between fresh salads and sandwiches on their upcoming flights. It’s easy to place an order by simply clicking on the “Pre-Order Now” button in the email you should receive before your flight to place an order for yourself and everyone traveling in the same reservation. The link will go directly to your flight and you can choose between a salad, sandwich, or nothing.

As an Executive Platinum elite flyer with American, I’d be pretty glum about getting stuck back in coach, but at least I still get free food back there, and now I could pre-order my complimentary sandwich for an upcoming flight – so no danger of them running out of the option I want. To ensure your preference is available, the airline requests that passengers place their orders at least 24 hours prior to departure.

Terms and Conditions
This trial offer is valid on selected non-stop flight segments that depart after 10 AM and before 8 PM.

The Ordering Process
A pre-order can only be placed online via a targeted email up to 24 hours prior to departure that passengers will receive.
There can only be one order placed per reservation; a pre-order for multiple passengers traveling on the one reservation must be placed at the same time.

Payment Process
Payment will be collected onboard upon delivery by an American Airlines flight attendant; accepted forms of payment include all major credit/debit cards.
Since payment is not collected until product delivery, there are no refunds.
Pre-order meals are complimentary for AAdvantage Executive Platinum members.
Pre-order meals are complimentary for ConciergeKeySM members.

Changes and Cancellations
Since this is a trial offer, the airline is unable to make any changes or cancellations once the order is placed, unless there are changes or cancellations to the actual flight.
If the eligible flight is changed or cancelled, the pre-order will automatically be canceled.
In the event of a flight change and the new flight is under the same reservation with eligible flight segments and departure times, a customer may access the original email to place a new pre-order.
