Hilton HHonors recently announced that its members can earn bonus points by joining and making purchases with Gilt Groupe, the members-only online shopping site with daily changing flash sales of designer brands at discounts of up to 60%. But Gilt is more than just designer clothing, the Groupe includes deals on travel through Jetsetter, home goods, food and wine, and city-specific sales on everything from fitness training sessions and spa treatments to meals and adventure sports.

When they sign up through this promo page Hilton HHonors members will earn 2,000 HHonors bonus points for joining Gilt and making a purchase of $50 or more, then earn 6 HHonors points per $1 spent at Gilt during the first six months after they join.

Though this offer was sent to HHonors members in an email, anyone can sign up at this landing page.

I’m not particularly excited by this offer since Hilton HHonors points are much less valuable than United miles and I think the current United/Gilt offer of 1,500 points with first purchase and 5 United miles per dollar spent for the first 6 months is a much better deal. However, if you are looking to bank some Hilton points and have some shopping to do anything, this promo is a no-brainer.

So though I’m not chomping at the bit to score the Hilton HHonors points, I do find this to be an interesting development since Gilt seems to be expanding its partnership opportunities, and who knows, we might see promos run with other airlines like American or Delta, or hotels like Starwood. If you’re a Hilton member who has not joined Gilt yet, you might as well score some extra HHonors points this way, but otherwise, it might be worth biding your time until a program you have more of an investment in joins the Gilt sphere of influence (though to be honest you could probably create new Gilt accounts for multiple partners using different email addresses and still get the bonuses).
