Mother’s Day is this Sunday, and if you haven’t gotten Mom something already, here’s your chance to get her some lovely flowers and gifts…and earn some extra points (as well as brownie points) all at the same time. Flowers are insanely expensive and there’s a huge markup, so shop around for the best price. Though if you are going to bite the bullet and get flowers anyway, you might as well bank some miles and points. There are lots of deals out there, but here are some of my favorites. Feel free to share any you have found.

Flowers
Delta:
35 miles per dollar with 1-800-FLOWERS
American
:
30 miles per dollar with FTD.com
United:
30 miles per dollar with FTD.com
US Airways: 25 miles per dollar with Teleflora
25% Off with an Amex card with FTD.com (I don’t believe this can be stacked with other mileage earning)
20% Off with a Visa card with FTD.com (I don’t believe this can be stacked with other mileage earning)

I'd rather have 30+ miles per dollar, but some may prefer to save cash

Retail
Southwest: 14 points per dollar
on Shari’s Berries
United: 1,500 miles with first $50 purchase
at Gilt Groupe and 5 miles per dollar spent for the first 6 months.
British Airways: 12 Avios per dollar spent at  CafePress. Great if you are interested in making Mom a custom item + 30% off with offer code AFF30
British Airways: 12 Avios per dollar spent at Zazzle, the online custom greeting card site, plus 50% off 2 day shipping with code MOMSMOMMENTS
Chase Ultimate Rewards: 7 points per dollar spent at Nordstrom

Wine Club
Up to 6,500 United Miles for a Vinesse Wine Club Membership.

Free Miles
500 US Airways miles when you download the Dividend Miles Storefront Toolbar and conduct one search (though if you don’t need the points now it might make sense to wait for this fall’s Grand Slam)

Would the Delta miles be MQM’s?

  • thepointsguy

    No

OMG who is this kid …. JDedele … sounds like a punk.

Obviously the miles are not MQM. Who do you think you are?

Let me guess you are the kind of kid who walks out on $1000 tabs right?

1-800-FLOWERS is only showing 9 miles/$ on the Delta portal. Is this a special link you have?

    Brian,

Can you elaborate more on the KE/EK redemptions? This link here isn’t showing the amounts you describe.

    Huh? Am I missing something?

The 35 miles is not through the shopping portal. Go to Delta.com -> SkyMiles->Ways to Earn->Earn with partners->dining,specialty, retail. You’ll see 1-800 Flowers in the list. Click on the “limited time offer” and it’ll take you to the 35 mile offer.

Delta is also offering 10 miles per $1 for FTD plus a 1500 mile bonus. Depending on how much you’re spending, this could be a good deal.

What’s the Grand Slam for US airways? Means you would earn more miles downloading the toolbar later?

Talk about a win/win situation. 5500 SkyMiles and a happy Mom and Grandma? Count me in.
