$60 off Lufthansa Flights This Week

This isn’t an eye-popping deal, but something worth mentioning just to save you some extra cash in case you have an upcoming trip on Lufthansa.

The airline is running a limited-time and highly regimented (this is Lufthansa, after all) promotion where you can get a $60 voucher off your next flight purchase. However, the vouchers are only valid for travel between August 12 through September 12, 2012, with all travel completed by September 12, and you must book by May 31 (Thursday). But hey, if you were going to booking an upcoming trip on Lufthansa anyway, were deciding whether to fly them or another airline to Europe later this summer, or if you just wanted to dust off your lederhosen, here’s a way to save some cash.

All you have to do to score the voucher is fill out your information on the promo page and then you’ll be emailed a voucher immediately. You can apply the voucher on the final purchase screen during the booking process.

The confirmation email once I filled out the voucher promo form. $60 isn't much, but every little bit counts.

Per the terms and conditions, the voucher is supposed to be good on United, Austrian and Air Canada flights as well. However, when I tried to use it on a mock booking of a Chicago-Miami flight on United, it wouldn’t accept the promo code. It did work on Lufthansa codeshare flights operated by United, though.

You can use just one voucher per booking process, so if you’re flying with several people, you’ll have to book each itinerary separately in order for each person to save the $60. Also, the voucher is only good for travel originating in the US, so no using it on a cheap intra-European flight, unfortunately. Also, you must redeem the voucher on an itinerary you purchase by May 31 (Thursday), so better hurry up!

Even if you don’t think you will be flying Lufthansa, it takes about 20 seconds to fill out the form and save some cash in case some late-summer German travel opportunities come up. Or maybe you’ll plan some time along the Rhine just because you got the discount. In any case, you might as well because you never know!

Here are the rest of the terms and conditions:

The following terms and conditions apply to the redemption of vouchers:

Vouchers are valid for travel between August 12, 2012 through September 12, 2012

Travel must be completed before September 12, 2012

Vouchers are valid for flights operated by United Airlines, Austrian Airline and Air Canada

The voucher can only be redeemed at www.lufthansa.com. The voucher is not valid in conjunction with any “Access Code” used to purchase already discounted fares.

The voucher is intended for personal use only. Its resale or any other transfer to a third party is prohibited. In the event of a contravention, Lufthansa, or a third party authorised by Lufthansa, reserves the right to refuse to redeem the voucher.

Vouchers are only valid for itineraries where all flights are operated by Lufthansa and Lufthansa Regional Partner (incl. Lufthansa City Line and Eurowings).

The voucher can be redeemed between 25/05/2012 and 31/05/2012.

Travel must be between 12/08/2012 and 12/09/2012.

Only one voucher can be used for each booking process.

The voucher reduces the tariff value of the ticket and cannot be used for fees, taxes, charges or other supplements.

If the tariff value of the ticket is less than the value of the voucher, the residual amount can be deducted from the tariff value of other tickets bought in the same booking process

If the value of the voucher exceeds the total tariff value of all the tickets in a booking process, the residual amount cannot be redeemed in a further booking process.

The voucher is only valid for flights departing in United States of America.

If a ticket for which a voucher was redeemed is reimbursed, only the reduced tariff value of the ticket – depending on the tariff terms and conditions attached to the ticket – is reimbursed.

Vouchers and any residual values resulting from their use cannot be paid in cash.

If the value of a ticket bought with a voucher is used as a down payment for a higher-priced ticket (e.g. towards a higher tariff), only the reduced value of the ticket is put towards the value of the new ticket

Certain tariffs may be excluded from the use of vouchers.

Vouchers may only be used for flight tickets, not for rebooking charges (MCOs) or excess baggage tickets

The passenger receipt, which serves as an invoice for flight tickets, only shows the reduced ticket price.

Lufthansa reserves the right to cancel a voucher at any time. Limit per promotion is one voucher per person. Lufthansa reserves the right to cancel the booking when the same passenger uses several vouchers.
