The second week of Daily Getaways travel promotions sponsored by American Express and U.S Travel Association, continues with another five daily travel deals which go live at 1:00 pm EDT, and some will have a pre-sale beginning at 12:00 pm EDT which you can access by heading to the Facebook page the day of the sale and getting the pre-sale code.

Remember, American Express cardmembers receive an additional 10% off so be sure to use your American Express card.

Here’s what’s up this week from April 16-20:

Monday, April 16: Diamond Resorts
This week begins with the offer of a 5-night Stay at a Diamond Resorts Property for $600 ($1,000 value). There are 150 packages available and 30 available during the pre-sale.

The certificate expires April 16, 2013, and you can only purchase one. I had never heard of Diamond Resorts, but they have over 200 branded and affiliated resorts in 28 countries, though this certificate is good in one of these 52 resorts in a one-bedroom accommodation, which include the Ka’anapali Beach Club in Hawaii, the Sedona Summit in Arizona, the Daytona Beach Regency in Florida, and the Kenmore Club in Scotland. Can’t say I’m exactly chomping at the bit to get in on this one, but it might make sense if you’ve got travel planned in one of their expensive locations- $108 a night can be a great deal.

Tuesday, April 17: $25 off at Alamo
Tuesday’s deal is a $50 certificate towards an Alamo Car Rental for $25. There are 2,000 available during the regular sale, and 500 available during the pre-sale. You can purchase a maximum of three and there are no set dates of travel. Not too interesting, but could be handy if you know you have some rentals coming up. There isn’t a lot of red-tape either, it’s good on the use of any car and you can combine three per rental.

Wednesday April 18: Marriott TravelCards
Mid-week sees Marriott offering the following discounts on Marriott TravelCards.

The TravelCards come in the following packages:
-$50 Marriott TravelCard for $44. 150 available
-$100 Marriott TravelCard for $89.  290 available
-$250 Marriott TravelCard for $222.  452 available
-$500 Marriott TravelCard for $445.  201 available
-$1,000 Marriott TravelCard for $890. 50 available

No presales on these. Marriott TravelCards can be redeemed for stays, meals, spa treatments and activities at participating properties. Basically anything charged to your hotel bill. The $1,000 gift card can be had for $801 if you use an Amex card, so that amount to a 20% discount- not too shabby! I’m not a Marriott guy, but if I was I’d be trying to get in on these.

Thursday, April 19: Harrah’s and Caesar’s Palace

-2 nights at Harrah’s Las Vegas in a Mini-Suite, round-trip limo service from the airport, and a bottle of Champagne for $264 ($480 value). Travel must be completed by May 1, 2013. 15 available
-2 nights at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City in a Waterfront Tower Room, dinner at either Polistina’s Italian Ristorante or The Steakhouse, and two 50-minute Signature Massages at Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa.  $1,000 ($2,000 value). Travel must be completed by May 1, 2013. 5 available
-2 nights at Caesars Palace Las Vegas including 2 Buffet of Buffets passes and fitness passes and roundtrip airport limousine transfer. Travel must be completed by May 1, 2013. $481 ($875 value). 20 available
-2 nights at Harrah’s Tunica (Alabama) including accommodations in a Standard Room, dinner for two at Restaurant 37 up to $100, and $150 credit toward spa treatments. Travel must be completed by April 1, 2013. $350 ($650 value). 2 available
-2 nights at Harrah’s St. Louis in a Standard Room, round-trip airport transportation and dinner for 2 at Harrah’s St. Louis Restaurant. Travel must be completed by April 1, 2013. $400 ($750 value). 2 available

Friday, April 20: Omni Hotels
Here’s another group of hotel packages, this time from Omni, all of which must be used by December 30, 2012.

-1 night weekend stay (Friday or Saturday night) at Omni Berkshire in New York City on 52nd and Madison Ave. Includes Standard Room accommodations. $275 ($375 value). 10 available
-2 night weekend stay at Select Omni Hotels (participating properties listed here) including accommodations in a standard room for $385 ($550 value). 33 available
-2 night weekend stay at select Omni Hotels for $280 ($390 value). 49 available
-2 night weekend stay at select Omni properties for $190 ($250 value). 36 available

I’m not very excited about this week’s offerings, so I’m probably not going to try to snag any of them. Instead, I’m going to look to next week and the week after for their Hilton HHonors points packages and see if any of them are worth it.

Depending on the deal some of these may sell out in the first few minutes while others should be available the entire day. If you know you want to take part in one of these deals, I recommend either going for the pre-sale if they have one or being online right at 1pm EDT to have the best chance. You can find the rest of the terms and conditions here.

Can Marriott gift cards be used at Ritz Carlton properties?

Also, is there an easy link to find “participating properties”?

Minor correction: Harrah’s Tunica is in Mississippi, not Alabama

Diamond Resorts was featured in an episode of “Undercover Boss.”

Basically Diamond is higher end timeshare. I stayed the Diamond Resorts property in Vegas (Desert Paradise) recently and was impressed with the level of detail to things like large towels, high end coffee pots and proper glassware. This buy probably isn’t for your demo, but for families who like to have condos to save on food it can be a great deal. (Aside: the CEO was on “Undercover Boss” and came off as a real D-bag.)

The Harrah’s prices seem crazy as anyone who gambles even a tiny amount can get rooms for free!

Just saw this for the Alamo deal: “Certificate not valid with any other discount, offer, or promotional rate, except you may combine up to three (3) separate certificates per single rental.” If you don’t use discount codes there is no real point. Besides paying with this certificate you cannot use the insurance that your credit card is diving you for free.
