250 Free Starwood Points With Westin Charlotte Email Sign-up

Sign-up here for the Westin Charlotte’s email list and you’ll automatically get 250 Starwood points, posted to your account by March 1, 2012. There’s nowhere to enter your SPG number, but apparently the hotel will email with instructions on how to get our Starwood points. I value Starwood points at around 2.5 cents conservatively, so this 30 second activity scored me $6.25. I’ll take it!

Sign up fast, because these things usually go viral and get shut down sooner than later.

    Nice hotel. A high floor city view at sunset is really cool. Floor to ceiling windows. Recommended if ever staying in Charlotte

    It looks like Starwood has changed the eligibility to require a stay or credit card purchase in order to remain an active member. From their website

    3.2. You will be considered an “Active Member” so long as (a) your Membership has not been cancelled (by you or us), and (b) you have had an Eligible Stay at a Participating Property within the previous 12 months, or (c) you have earned Starpoints by using a Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card during the previous 12 months. Starpoints resulting from transfers or earnings from Program affiliates do not count toward active status.

    3.3. If you do not remain an Active Member, we will close your Membership account and all Starpoints in the account shall be forfeited without notice.

    In the past a deal like this one would extend the membership but it appears that this is no longer the case.

    Just checked my account and the 250 was credited on 2/7/12. Kudos to the Westin for honoring the points on a promo that I am sure went viral.
