United MileagePlus a New Chase Ultimate Rewards Transfer Partner?

Update: As of April 2013, Chase Ultimate Rewards has added Virgin Atlantic as a new airline transfer partner.

I asked Chase’ Ultimate Rewards program folks last week whether United would be a transfer partner going forward, but they were mum – stating, “No information at this time.” I’ve always assumed they would – especially since Continental is currently a transfer partner and Chase issues United’s credit cards.

A nice little surprise

I would have missed this because United doesn’t have a logo, but it’s there. However, when I tried to transfer to my MileagePlus account I received a temporary error. Seems like someone accidentally let this show online before the partnership goes live, but I think it’s a good sign nonetheless!

Has anyone been able to transfer points successfully to United?

    So- do you think they will also allow us to transfer from Chase Sapphire to United?

    Can’t you just transfer from Chase to CO then from CO to UA?

    Yes but Continental will no longer exist on Jan 1 2012 so the question on everyones mind has been around United joining the program

    what will happen to CO points NOT used by Jan 1 2012?

    they will automatically become united miles which will expire after 18 months of no activity if you don’t have one of their cobranded credit cards

    My older daughter was targetted by Sapphire regular. Am I correct to assume she can most likely upgrade her card to Sapphire Preferred and 50K singon bonus goes up to new account? Also if she is an AU on her sister’s Sapphire Preferred , can her sapphire points be trasnferred over as I transferred my UR points under my “aged” chase freedom Mastercard and Visa?

    That wasn’t there last night when I transfered points onto BA for a ticket cashout.

    When I called in to activate my Sapphire Preferred a few days ago, I asked the lady on the other end about United joining the program, and she assured me that they would. Maybe she didn’t understand the question or wasn’t fully informed but she definitely said that they would.
