Day 1 of Hilton’s Free Night Twitter Scavenger Hunt seemed like a big success – of the 100 free nights given away, so far 10 TPG readers have reported success. That’s a pretty nice proportion of the winners in my opinion and I’d like to see that increase as we move into the next cities!

Tuesday’s scavenger hunt will be in London and it looks to be a little more complicated than DC – you need to show up to the hotel in your pajamas (I mean pyjamas!). Per the rules of the promotion:

On or about October 18, 2011, Sponsor will post a tweet to @HiltonHHonors that announces this Promotion and the opportunity to win one free night stay certificate for any Hilton Worldwide property.  To be eligible you must, during the Promotion Period: (1) arrive at Courthouse DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London – Regent Street (19 – 21 Great Marlborough Street, London, United Kingdom W1F 7HL) between 17.00 and 19.00 UK time; and (2) be in the first 100 persons to check-in with event staff at the specified location dressed in pyjamas and provide their name and Twitter ID to be eligible for the free night stay certificate (“Entry” or “Entries”). For the avoidance of doubt, pyjamas means two-piece pyjamas, nightgowns or similar. Those turning up with no clothes on at all, those wearing only their underwear and those wearing tracksuit bottoms will not be entered.

There is a limit of one (1) Entry per person during the Promotion Period. If multiple Entries are received during the Promotion Period, only the first entry received will be eligible.  Additional Entries are void.  Incomplete, illegible and/or multiple entries are void. Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, require any potential winner to provide Sponsor with verification information. Sponsor’s HHonors staff may, in its sole discretion determine that an Entry does not qualify.

Wednesday the promotion moves to Chicago and it looks pretty straightforward. Per the rules: (Note the promotion runs on Eastern time, even though Chicago is in the Central time zone)

The Promotion begins 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on October 19, 2011 and ends 6:00 p.m. or when all 100 free night stay certificates have been given away (“Promotion Period”). On or about October 19, 2011, Sponsor will post a tweet to @HiltonHHonors that announces this Promotion and the opportunity to obtain one free night stay certificate for a Hilton Worldwide property.  To be eligible, you must during the Promotion Period: (1) Tweet a “Windy City Witticism” mentioning @HiltonHHonors and @Doubletree and using the hashtag #HHfreenight (2) Arrive at The Wit hotel at 201 N. State Street, Chicago, IL, USA 60601 (3) check-in with a HHonors staff member and show proof of qualifying tweet (either hard copy or on mobile phone) (“Entry” or “Entries”). The first 100 contestants to complete all of these steps will win a free night stay certificate.

Limit one (1) Entry per person/e-mail address/Twitter account during the Promotion Period.  If multiple Entries are received in a given day during the Promotion Period, only the first entry received will be eligible.  Additional Entries are void.  Incomplete, illegible and/or multiple entries are void.  All entries submitted become the sole property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

Best of luck – as always, please report your successes!

Do we literally tweet “Windy City Witticism” or is that code for something? Also does the person tweeting have to be the one that shows up? I mean they won’t know that. Also do they hand out a physical certificate then and there?

I’m thinking the Witticism will have to be a joke about the city or something. We won’t find out for sure until they tweet the details on Wednesday.
As you mention, they’ll never know who actually sent the Tweet, so as long as the person has it pulled up on their phone, there shouldn’t be an issue
As for cert- not sure- someone who got one can chime in!

Yep, you get a physical “Be My Guest” certificate good for a standard room at any Hilton Worldwide property. You book a standard room as you normally would, then present the cert at the front desk.

so does it starts at 4pm est and we gotta be ready then or is it anytime between 4 and 6?

This promo looks messy. The Washington one was not a sell-out looking at the tweets. The UK one is even harder to do (for a start, people will have left for work in London today before the tweet asking them to bring pyjamas went out). They are also confused about the time – 5pm in the rules, 6pm on the tweet.

The London rules were already on FB yesterday so you may find the Chicago rules if you search

Since all the rules are out, what is the announcement? Besides getting the free night, are you also entered to win something else?

I got mine tonight, i was third in line..it definitely wasn’t full and they had plenty of certs for people that showed up in PJ’s.

  • Tim nice but dim

Only about 20 people showed up for the London event, though they did make things difficult by asking people to wear PJs. Definitely worth a shot if you’re in the vicinity though.
