Double Hilton Points or Miles Until September 30, 2011

While I wish it would have been more creative, double points or miles isn’t so bad. Sign up here and stay from July 1-Sept 30, 2011. Once you sign up for either points or miles, you cannot switch, so choose wisely!

FYI base Hilton earning is:

  • HHonors Points and Variable Miles
    Earn 10 HHonors Base points + 1 airline mile per eligible U.S. dollar spent* (except 5 HHonors Base Points and up to 100 miles per stay at Home2 Suites by Hilton)
  • HHonors Points and Fixed Miles
    Earn 10 HHonors Base points per eligible U.S. dollar spent + 500 miles per stay (100 miles per stay at Hampton Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites and Homewood Suites by Hilton.*) (not a valid earning option with Home2 Suites by Hilton)
  • HHonors Points and HHonors Points
    Earn 10 HHonors Base points + 5 bonus points per eligible U.S. dollar spent (except 5 HHonors Base Points +2.5 Bonus Points at Home2 Suites by Hilton)

    Note the T&C: if you select double (or triple Delta) miles, you MUST choose the “variable miles” Double Dip. So for those that take short, cheaper stays, you’d be earning LESS miles than if you had the flat 500 miles/stay Double Dip choice. The double (or triple Delta) miles option only makes sense for those that take longer (or, more precisely, costlier stays of over $250 base cost for double miles, or $166 for triple Delta miles) E.g.: for a $100 base cost stay, you’d normally earn 1000 HHonors points + 500 airline miles with the normal, flat 500 miles/stay Double Dip choice. With the double miles promo, you’d have to switch to variable miles (1 mile per $1 base cost) and you’d end up only getting 200 airline miles (or 300 with Delta triple miles promo) on top of the 1000 HHonors points.

    You are correct (boy, did I read that incorrectly!): with the Double Miles promo, you can choose either fixed or variable miles as the Double Dip choice. But the Triple Delta Miles promo DOES require choosing variable miles. So if you’re going for Delta miles as your double dip and each of your stays generally cost less than $333 (base; tripled = about 1000 skymiles), it would make sense to sign up for the normal Double Miles promo (with fixed 500 miles/stay option; doubled = 1000 skymiles), if I’m not mistaken.

    Since replying to the triple points offer, I have been unable to add my Delta number to my HHonors profile! Wonder what’s up with that?

    I just got back from a trip to Boston and I registered for the Triple Miles on Delta per the tip from above. All 3 of my stays were 1 night and all at Hilton Garden Inn and I have fixed miles as my double dip option. I received 1500 Delta miles for my 3 stays and they have all been posted to my Delta account. I may have to book some more trips between now and the end of September.
