American Express Facebook Promo Credit Already Processed!

Yesterday I booked a $129 pre-paid Starpicks room at the Sheraton Brooklyn. I then signed up for American Express’ new Facebook promotion where you can get $40 in statement credit for Westin and Sheratons, plus discounts at a handful of retailers (see my post on the topic here).

This morning, I got the following email:

“Dear: Points Guy

Congratulations! You saved on your purchase by using the American Express® Card you linked with Facebook. Expect a statement credit in 3-5 days.

Wow – that was quick. I love a good promotion, but I love good IT and promotion tracking even better!

    Hi Brian,

    That’s great! I have a stay booked at the Westin Poinsett in Greenville, SC for August, but I was afraid that the credit wouldn’t come (since the stay was booked prior to registering at a wedding block rate that is no longer available!). If I’m reading your experience correctly, it sounds like you paid for the room, then registered for the promo and still got the credit. Is that right?

    I think as long as the purchase doesn’t post on your card before you apply your promo you should be good. Otherwise you could always call amex.

    BTW Brian, are you still planing on doing an award write up for continental ?

    Hi Brian – I tried to sign up with my AAdvantage Citi AMEX, and it says it couldn’t validate — is this just for straight-stick AMEX cards, or should I try again?

    I was able to register successfully for Link, Like, Love using my FIA Card Services Amex, and my partner was able to use his Barclay’s issued Amex, so clearly at least some non-Amex issued American Express Cards are eligible.

    AMEX card pays for itself. I got $25 for that small business thing, and $7 for that iTunes promo.

    I did the L,L,L thing, and I received a confirmation message saying that the points would be posted. But, they have not been.

    Who should I email/ call to see inquire? Just the general SPG number?

    What points are you talking about? LLL is for statement credits

    I found this deal to be pretty appealing. It doesn’t earn you points since the charge is through travelocity, but it is worth it if you’re saving 20%

    FYI – This is one card number per Facebook account. My husband and I have a joint AMEX Delta Reserve account, but the credit will apply only on his card (since that’s the one I entered). I have to also put my card number into a facebook account in order for us to get the credits if my card is used.
