I’m not a Hilton guy, but this promo is one of the better offers I’ve seen for the no-fee Hilton American Express card.

Details (application):
- Receive 20,000 HHonors Bonus Points with your first purchase.
-Receive up to 2,500 additional HHonors Bonus Points on your first four Hilton WorldWide portfolio of hotels stays charged to the Card during your first 18 months of Cardmembership
-Receive 30,000 HHonors Bonus Points When you spend $500 in your first three months of Cardmembership
  • 6-3 points structure: Receive 6 HHonors Bonus Points for every eligible dollar you spend at Hilton Family hotels, and at grocery stores, drugstores, gas stations, wireless and home phone, internet, cable and satellite TB service providers.     I thought this was for the Surpass card! I have had this card for many years and easily do the annual spend to maintain my Gold status (which is good until 2013). I am thinking it is time to email amex and see what they can do…long time loyal cardholders should not be discriminated against…right? ;-)

    Your post “help me plan my trip to Tokyo” is broken. Or not working for me anyway. When I click on it, it just goes to a blank page. But I have to tell you about this amazing website that hooks travelers up with local Tokyo-ites. I used it when I traveled there by myself (stopover for 3 days coming back from Thailand) about 9 months ago. I met the nicest guy who was super-enthusiastic and showed me ramen places (and other stuff too – but food’s my main concern when I travel) that you would never hear about from English-speakers. It was really amazing. And free.

    I have two questions I hope you could answer regarding this offer.

    Do you know if the T&C under footnote 4, “Cardmember must charge a stay at a participating Hilton Family hotel to their Hilton HHonors Credit Card within their first three months of Cardmembership,” applies only to Cardmembers who opted to open an Instant Account, or all Cardmembers in general?

    To receive the 2,500 Bonus points each for the first four stays, I have to charge at least $100 per stay to the card, but is this before taxes and fees, or could they be included in the $100 charge?

    I signed up for this card a month ago. The first 50K points are simple (as long as you can spend $500 in 3 months). You also get 2500 points if you add an additional cardmember when you apply. You won’t get the 2500 points if you add a cardmember after the fact, so that’s pretty as well. The final 10K is hard to achieve unless you are able to complete four stays at a Hilton. As an added benefit, you also get Hilton Silver Status. Depending on the Hilton property, Silver Status can get you a few extra perks not available to regular guests. Considering there’s no annual fee, this is a worthwhile card to apply for. Enjoy!

    @flyingforfun: I think that “footnote #4″ is messed up and/or leftover from another promotion. The rest of the footnote describes a $50 statement credit after first use at a Hilton property with in 3 months…yet I don’t see any $50 credit mentioned. ANd if you look at the promotion details on the lefthand side, “footnote #3″ is next to the 30K bonus points promotion…yet footnote #3 actually details the terms of the “instant account” rather than the 30K bonus. I suspect AMex didn’t clean up their webpage from a prior application/promotion.

    @PanAm, that’s fine though! I’ve already changed one of my Hilton reservations to this new card (they give you a card number to use the same day!) — so I’m going to try and get them to make good on the $50 statement credit.

    @TPG: There’s another major benefit to this card: the AXON awards. You can redeem a 4-night stay for a significant discount available only to cardholders. Category 5 & 6 properties are 125,000 vs. 140,000/160,000 regular award; Cat 7 are 145,000 vs. 200,000 normally. These can be booked back-to-back for 8-night stays.

    Depending on your length of stay and elite status, you may be eligible for a VIP (or GLON) award which are more flexible.

    You’ll also receive 500 bonus points for your first online booking when becoming a cardholder. Every point counts!

    Just got an email with an offer for 50K points if I spend $750 in first three months. No annual fee and complimentary silver status, gold if spend $20k in calendar year (unlikely).
