I’m not sure why, but Delta.com is pricing domestic award tickets at 5,000 miles less than usual. Coach roundtrips at the lowest level are now 20,000 miles vs 25,000 and first class 40,000 vs 45,000. From time to time Delta does run reduced priced awards, like with their recent Valentine’s day promotion, so I don’t think this is a mistake.
In any case, if you have any domestic awards to book, I’d suggest doing it today!
To find “low” Delta awards, I recommend using the calendar to find dates that are shaded in green. While this method isn’t foolproof, it will generally give you a sense of when you can get the cheapest awards, even if they require connections.
