As I wrote about yesterday, it seems like Delta is running three separate promotions to incentivize non-elites up to Gold Medallions to fly more and attain higher status levels. These are targeted, but you might as well try signing up for all three to see if any of them take. Unfortunately, I’m a Diamond Medallion, so Delta didn’t create an offer for me – at least that I know of! FYI These offers are all for SkyMiles- not bonus Medallion Qualifying Miles.

Offer 1: Targeted towards Silver Medallions

Fly six qualifying Delta segments* anytime between April 1 and June 30, 2011, and you’ll receive double flown miles. (That’s just three nonstop round-trip flights.)

  • Then fly and enjoy a 75% mileage bonus on all
Delta marketed/operated flights flown July 1 through December 31, 2011.
As a Silver Medallion®, you already earn a 25% mileage bonus. Add that to the 75% mileage bonus and you’ll be earning a total bonus of 100%. That’s double flown miles on all paid Delta flights for six months.

For this one-time bonus, register today and fly between April 1 and
June 30, 2011.

Offer 2: Targeted to Gold Medallions

We appreciate your loyalty and we’d like to thank you for it.

  • Earn Gold Medallion® status with us again for 2012 and we’ll give you 25,000 bonus miles.
  • Or, earn Platinum Medallion status for 2012 and get 50,000 bonus
    miles.
  • Or, earn Diamond Medallion status for 2012 and get 100,000 bonus miles.

For this one-time bonus, register today and earn Gold, Platinum or Diamond Medallion status by December 31, 2011.

Offer 3: Targeted towards those with no status

We appreciate your loyalty and we’d like to thank you for it.

  • Start enjoying Silver Medallion® status now through February 2012 by flying six qualifying Delta or Delta Connection® segments* anytime between April 1 and June 30, 2011. (That’s just three nonstop round-trip flights.)
  • Or, enjoy Gold Medallion status now through February 2012 by flying twelve qualifying Delta or Delta Connection segments* anytime between April 1 and June 30, 2011.

Register today and fly six (or twelve) Delta segments by June 30, 2011.

*A qualifying Delta segment is defined as a paid Delta marketed/operated nonstop or direct flight that has the same flight number from point of origin to point of destination and earns mileage credit.

Do these bonus miles count as MQM?

  • Sergey

I am a Silver Medallion with Delta (my wife too). We didn’t receive such e-mails. I tried to use ours SM numbers in the links you provided and our SM numbers are not qualified. Too bad, since I will have a 6-segment trip in June. Why am I so unlucky?

  • Dave

I registered for the Silver Medallion offer. I have 3 trips planned in April and May which will push me to GM. So will I still get the 75% bonus as a Gold on top of the 100% GM bonus during the second half of the year?

  • Tina

I tried registering for Offer 3 and my SM number wasn’t qualified either. I wonder what is going on.

  • The Points Guy

Delta uses a lot of unknown metrics to target specific audiences. These aren’t open to everyone- only people who Delta thought needed a little prodding to become more loyal. In the past they’ve targeted people based on region, amount of itineraries booked, MQMs to date and more- theres no telling why any of us weren’t included.

For those who did get it- enjoy! These are all SkyMiles (not Medallion Qualifying), but still- a nice added bonus. I wouldn’t mind an extra 100k points!

  • Kevin

Please to announce I received the email and thus qualify, happy to announce it, not brag about it. I feel as though I’m finally in the round of cool offers that seem to usually skip by me. GLTA who also received this generous offer!

  • super

    This is crazy.
If you’re a silver you don’t get next level, gold status, by flying 6 segments. But if you have no status you reach silver by 6 and gold by 12. I wish I had no status rather than silver and get this offer.

Though something is better than nothing.

  • James

Bear in mind Super that the status these people will get will only last them for half a year, rather than all the way through 2012.

Plus double flown miles for the rest of the year? I’m SO there

  • pierre mclopez

I’m SM and just qualified for the 75% bonus starting July 1. No stipulations. I have an 4-segment award flight reserved for next month, but that’s my only ongoing activity with DL.

  • pierre mclopez

ETA, I didn’t receive an email.

Got the offer for gold to requalify. I only have 6 segments so far this year and many of those are 500 milers. I also had a further 8 cancelled segments this year. Maybe this gives people an idea about what qualifying metrics are used. I typically do the majority of my travel in December (20k miles domestically in one month last year), so maybe I get lucky and get up to platinum this year.

I received and registered for the Gold Medallion and birthday promotion for April as well. Heading to Copenhagen tomorrow on that awesome fare from a few months ago. Well on my way to Platinum status for the first time and so close to a RTW ticket too!

Thanks so much for the curating these loyalty program offers. They always get lost in my inbox!

  • Laurie

Yep…no go with my number or my husbands on any of them. Same thing….number does not qualify as it was not recipient of offer.

  • Dereck

Does anyone have the original email which Delta sent them outlining/offering this bonus promotion for SkyMiles members? If so, please let me know. Thanks!

Does anyone have the original email which Delta sent them outlining/offering this bonus promotion for SkyMiles members? If so, please let me know. Thanks! I lost mine in my junk mailbox.

  • margo

I actually received a letter in the mail offering me this promotion. I am a Silver Medallion.

  • D Whitaker

I received the offer and the way i interpret the offer is that I will get double miles on the three rt’s (six segments) plus double miles from July to December ? Am I correct in the miles for the April -June qualification period ? One of my trips is a business elite r/t to LHR, so would I receive the 50% class bonus PLUS the 100% segment bonus ?

  • Luka

I interpreted it the same way. I booked the three flight and now they are telling me it is only the following flight you get miles for and that I should have read the small font!

  • Tom

I read it the same way. I filed a complaint with Customer Service on September and am now awaiting a response.

  • Tom

I have it. I filed a complaint with Customer Service on 9/6 and now awaiting a response.

  • Angela

Has anyone gotten their double or 75% bonus miles yet? I registered in April and just checked (today, September) and no bonus miles. I called Delta and the rep said they probably wouldn’t post until early 2012. Is that the same for other folks?

  • Cgriffiths

I registered for Offer 2 and I qualified for Platinum so I should be getting a bonus of 50,000 miles. However, this promotion mysteriously disappeared from my registered promotions yesterday, and I’m concerned that Delta won’t honor it. I have emailed them and they are looking into it. Also, my rollover miles haven’t posted, so I’m not too sure what’s going on, but I hope they resolve this soon.

  • Steve

I’m in the same boat. I registered for offer 2 and qualified for Diamond. Mysteriously disappeared from registered promotions on the 1st… I figured I’d give them a week to close out the year before contacting them.

    Miscellaneous:
Bonus miles earned with this promotion will be awarded in early 2012 and will be a one-time bonus of 25,000, 50,000 or 100,000
(not cumulative) based on final elite level earned during calendar year 2011. Rollover benefit means Medallion Qualification Miles earned in 2011 above a member’s earned Medallion threshold level will roll over to 2012 and count toward 2013 Medallion status qualification. Members who receive complimentary or gifted Medallion status are ineligible for rollover MQMs unless they earn more MQMs than the gifted status requirement. For example, if a member is gifted Silver Medallion status in 2011 and also earns 30,000 MQMs in 2011, s/he will be able to roll over 5,000 MQMs since the Silver Medallion requirement is 25,000 MQMs. Complimentary upgrades are subject to availability and may not be available on all flights or in all markets. Access to and use of Delta Sky Priority services are reserved for BusinessElite, First and Business Class passengers, Diamond, Platinum, and Gold Medallion members, SkyTeam Elite Plus and Alaska Airlines® MVP® Gold members on all Delta and Delta Connection flights. Benefits subject to change at any time. All Sky Priority rules apply. To review the rules, please visit delta.com/skypriority. Medallion members travelling in the Economy Class cabin will be permitted two bags free of charge up to 70 lbs. for each bag. All passengers traveling in First/Business Class cabin will still be allowed to check up to three bags up to 70 lbs. at no additional charge on Delta and Delta Connection operated flights only. Excess, oversize and/or overweight baggage fees may apply. All SkyMiles program rules apply to SkyMiles program membership, miles, offers, mile accrual, mile redemption and travel benefits. To review the rules, please visit Membership Guide & Program Rules. Offers void where prohibited by law. Offers, rules and benefits subject to change. Other restrictions may apply. This SkyMiles offer is subject to change or withdrawal at any time without prior notice. Please refer Delta customer service representative to 970234.

I also registered for offer 2, saw it on my account as active last year (2011) and am now waiting for the bonus miles (50k in my case) to hit. Customer Service didnt know why they havent hit yet and told me to call back if not there by end of January.

  • Mcmc96919

So i’m confused. If Delta Medallion status provides Mileage bonuses, but the mileage bonus doesn’tgive you more MQMs, what good is the mileage bonus?? I’m Diamond also and in looking at mileage accrual, my MQMs are all equivalent to the actual mileage? Why should they even offer some bonus miles??
