Thru March 15, Amex will refund you for up to five iTunes song purchases. Simply register here and purchase by March 15, 2011.

You would think that you only get reimbursed for song purchases, however as with many promotions, the rules and what actually happens can be different. Many Flyertalkers have reported that once you register and link your Amex card in your iTunes account and purchase 1 song (or even app), Amex generates a $7.05 credit. So you end up buying 1 song for $1.29 and getting $7.05 back – not a bad deal!

And remember, always buy your iTunes songs through your preferred shopping portal so you extra miles/points for each purchase:
American Eshopping Mall- 3 miles per dollar
American Express Bonus Points Mall- 3 points per dollar
Delta Skymiles Shopping- 2 miles per dollar
United Mileage Plus Shopping- 2 miles per dollar

To be eligible to receive the statement credit, you must register any valid U.S. American Express® Consumer Card or Business Card from American Express OPEN at and use that Card to make a purchase on iTunes® between 2/10/11 and 3/15/11. A statement credit equivalent to the price of 5 song downloads on iTunes plus sales tax will be issued generally within 5 business days after your qualifying purchase, but may take up to 2 billing periods to post to your account. Limit one statement credit per registered Card regardless of the number of transactions made. If your registered Card is replaced, you must re-enroll the replacement Card prior to making the iTunes purchase to get the statement credit. Apple is not a participant or sponsor of this promotion. Additional terms apply; see Registration Terms and Conditions for details.

Love the tip about buying only one song and getting the $7.05 credit. FlyerTalk members find all of the angles.

I’ve been thinking about doing this but have been wondering if I can use it to rent a movie — the T&C are not helpful. Any word on if that would work? Sounds like it would…
