Delta just rolled out their April birthday promotion:

YOUR BIRTHDAY GIFTS MAKE IT POSSIBLE.

It’s time to start the celebration!

Our birthday gifts to you are waiting: You can get 2,000 bonus miles on your next round-trip flight and a $100 e-certificate toward a Delta Vacations® getaway.

First register, then book your round-trip ticket by April 30, 2011 and complete your travel by May 31, 2011 to receive your 2,000 birthday bonus miles.

My birthday was in March and I had flights already booked and I still received the bonus miles. So it seems like as long as you register and then fly on a paid ticket during the period, you should get the miles.

And if you aren’t eligible for this offer, make sure your birthday is in your delta.com profile
Delta.com -> Skymiles -> Manage my account -> Manage my profile

April 9th and flying RT to Spain on (gag) Delta Apr 19. May as well, right? I feel dirty.

  • Michael G.

    Ah, I am not eligible.

“We are sorry, the SkyMiles number entered is not eligible for this promotion. This offer was created specifically for the SkyMiles member who received the promotion and only the SkyMiles number listed on the promotion piece may be registered. The offer may not be transferred to other SkyMiles members.”

Now to delete the new Skymiles account…

Yep I feel your pain. My birthday was this past monday and I could not register, even though I have it on my profile. Tsk tsk Delta. I will call them as soon as I get home from work today and see why not. It makes no sense. :(

Not related to the subject question – if one books an award ticket in business class (international or domestic) on Delta – will he get a lounge access to SkyClub?

  • The Points Guy

@Sergey- yes for international. Domestic only on certain flights like JFK-Lax/SFO/sea/San/las

  • Bill

As Michael posted above, the offer is not-transferrable.
    Darn.

My DL profile has my April birthday in it but I’m not eligible?

  • A S

Same for me. B’day in April but not eligible

  • JSH

My birthday is Tuesday and it also declares me ineligible.

I actually called Delta yesterday and explained to them that my birthday is in March and I tried to sign up for this promo. They asked me how did I get access to the link etc. I told them I saw it posted on some Frequent Flyer forum site. I even mentioned to them that I had others had managed to register etc. They told me that it’s specifically for those who receive the email only. I asked them what do they base that criteria on..they didn’t have an answer. Maybe if one has their birthday in profile a month before your birthday, I don’t know. So I have no clue on how this is based on.
On a brighter note, they did congratulate me on getting Silver Medallion status so at least the call ended on a happy note :)

No other airline I’m aware of offers miles for flying near your birthday. If you weren’t targeted, consider that Delta is a profit-seeking entity, not a charity, and might have reasons for not targeting you. In other words, don’t complain about not getting a freebie.

I saw the link, registered, but I didn’t really think I would get it since I already had my trip booked, etc. But there it was, two days after my birthday, “2011 Happy Birthday 2000 Bonus Mile Offer”! Thanks again!
